Recently, JPEC helped a customer at their property who couldn’t have an EV charger installed because the earthing wasn’t good enough.
The energy supplier visited the property to install a new EV charger, but when the engineer tested the TNCS earthing system and it was found to be inadequate. BS7671 requires the maximum readings for a TNCS system is 0.35ohms, but the readings were over 400ohms.
This meant the earthing and bonding was incorrect and could have caused the customer an electric shock.
JPEC installed two supplementary earth rods to the property, which have brought the readings down to an acceptable level of 0.44ohms.
The energy company have been notified checked our work, and have now connected their EV charger for the customer.
